THE FLY

mouche noireUSA - 1958 - 1H34 – VOST- copie neuve of Kurt Neumann with Vincent Price, David Hedison, Patricia Owens, Herbert Marshall

A woman is taken into custody after the death of her husband, whose head has been crushed by a press. She affirms to the police commissioner that she murdered him knowingly, but gives no other explanation. Finally, with the aid of victim’s brother, to whom the woman has told the truth, the Commissioner learns the incredible story behind the murder. Sometime beforehand, her husband, a brilliant scientist, had completed his work on teleportation. Adapted from the novel by Geroges Langelaan, The Fly is one of many science fiction classics of the 1950s. The film does not avoid the usual condemnation of a misguided science, but it stands out from other sci-fi films of the period by its original approach to the subject, anchored into the day to day life of an upper middle class family.
