Synopsis
Eight graders in a Danish school are confronted with an over the top, charismatic substitute teacher. With destabilising brio, she alternates insult with praise, reads minds, calculates faster than a mainframe. Some suspicious children realise early on that she is from outer space, but typically, parents and the school authorities, eager for children to “succeed”, are seduced by her ambitious promises. But there are moments when the substitute seems destabilised herself, especially by earthlings’ capacity for love. Ruse, real, or both?
