Synopsis
From harsh urban glares to the subdued daylight and fluid shadows of a remote mountain village in Spain – lightness and darkness merge into an ever present leitmotif in this Spanish thriller. Santi, a teenage boy, is marginalised by a severe allergy to sunlight. If overexposed, he breaks out in deforming blisters. He dreams of a better life in the long nights of Lapland, however, his mother settles instead for life in a small Spanish village. Wedged deeply into a mountain valley, it is shielded naturally from sunlight most of the day. Almost immediately after their arrival, two murders occur, linked to an unknown presence in the forest and to Santi himself. But things are not what they seem. Santi is not the only one who has fled light to seek solace in darkness.
